WISO Steuer 2026 (Steuerjahr 2025) is Buhl’s German income-tax software for individuals preparing their 2025 return, including residents who have moved to Germany. You receive a licence key and official download link by email; enter the Garantie-Nummer during installation and link it to your buhl:Konto for use across supported platforms.

Which German tax software fits your return?

Choose WISO for desktop work plus browser or mobile access. Buhl excludes people subject only to limited German income-tax liability; check this distinction before buying for a cross-border situation. Buhl tax 2026 is a Windows alternative, TAXMAN 2026 offers one Windows workstation, and SteuerSparErklärung 2026 includes three returns.

For a straightforward return, the tax administration’s free Mein ELSTER portal may be sufficient if you can complete the forms yourself.

Tools for preparing the 2025 return

WISO provides an interview, running tax calculation and ELSTER submission. Its Steuer-Abruf can retrieve tax-office data after separate setup. Desktop requirements: 64-bit Windows 10/11 or macOS 12 onwards, 4 GB available RAM and 3 GB free storage. Internet is needed for activation, updates and ELSTER.

Activation and first submission

1. Download the 2026 installer from the link in Licendi’s email.
2. Enter the Garantie-Nummer and use your personal buhl:Konto if you want registered platform access.
3. Open the 2025 return, review imported information, update the program and retain the ELSTER submission confirmation.

If the key is rejected, check the edition year and the account used. A Steuer-Abruf approval code is separate from your software licence key. Licendi’s activation guarantee lasts one month: if the key does not activate within that period, support helps or replaces it.

Tax year, updates and filing dates

This purchase covers the 2026 edition for tax year 2025; a 2026 income-tax return needs the 2027 edition. Install the publisher’s available updates before submitting. ELSTER transmission depends on the tax administration’s services and components. If you are not required to file, you have four years to submit a voluntary 2025 income-tax return (Antragsveranlagung), until 31 December 2029. If you are required to file and had no tax adviser, you should submit your return as soon as possible.
