Which Windows 10 Pro key or licence do I need?

Windows 10 still has a clear purpose in 2026: it keeps an older PC working when the hardware does not meet the Windows 11 requirements, or it runs a dedicated system that must remain stable. At Licendi, you can buy a Windows 10 licence for home, professional or fixed-purpose use. We supply genuine Microsoft keys, an official download link and support by email and chat.

There is one important point before you buy. Support for standard Windows 10 Home and Pro ended on 14 October 2025, so they no longer receive free security updates. Long-term Enterprise editions follow different support dates. Your key, download link and PDF invoice showing VAT arrive by email: instantly during office hours and within 24 hours outside them.

Start with the job the PC must do. Home covers everyday personal use. Pro adds business and administration features. Enterprise is intended for managed organisations, while LTSC and LTSB suit systems that must not change. IoT editions are licensed for dedicated, single-purpose devices rather than general office PCs.

6 of 10 Windows 10 orders at Licendi are for Windows 10 Pro (last 12 months).

These are prices from. Check the selected product and quantity before ordering. If you need a Windows 10 Pro licence for ordinary business work, Pro is usually the direct choice; choose LTSC or IoT only when its servicing model and licensing purpose match the machine.

Windows 10 Home: for a personal PC

Home is for everyday personal computing on a compatible older PC. It does not include the Pro tools BitLocker, Remote Desktop host, Hyper-V, Group Policy or domain and Entra ID join. Its free security support has ended, so consider whether the machine can run Windows 11 before choosing it.

Windows 10 Pro: business features on an older PC

A Windows 10 Pro key unlocks BitLocker drive encryption, Remote Desktop host, Hyper-V virtualisation, Group Policy and domain or Entra ID join. Buy Windows 10 Pro when those controls are required and the PC cannot move to Windows 11. Standard Windows 10 Pro support ended on 14 October 2025.

Windows 10 Enterprise: for managed organisations

Enterprise is aimed at organisations that manage Windows centrally. It includes the professional controls used across company PCs, such as BitLocker, Hyper-V and Group Policy. For a machine that must stay on one feature set, compare the separate Windows LTSC and Enterprise licences.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021: stable and fixed

LTSC 2021 receives security fixes but no feature updates, and it has no Microsoft Store or built-in Store apps. That makes it suitable for production, medical, kiosk, laboratory and point-of-sale systems that must not change unexpectedly. Mainstream support runs until 12 January 2027.

Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021: dedicated devices

This edition uses the same stable, long-term approach and receives support until 13 January 2032. It is licensed for a dedicated device with a single purpose, such as a kiosk or control terminal. Do not choose IoT for a general office PC.

LTSC 2019, IoT LTSC 2019 and LTSB 2016: legacy releases

LTSC 2019 and IoT LTSC 2019 are for systems standardised on the 2019 release; their support runs until 9 January 2029. LTSB 2016 is for a legacy installation that specifically requires that release, and its support ended on 13 October 2026. These editions receive no feature updates and omit the Microsoft Store and built-in Store apps.

The security-update column shows whether the verified support period is still active. LTSC and IoT choices should be based on the device's role, not only on the longer support period.

Windows 10 or Windows 11?

Choose Windows 11 for a supported general-purpose PC when its hardware qualifies. Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and a supported processor. Many older PCs fail one of those checks, which is the main reason to retain Windows 10.

Choose Windows 10 when an essential older PC cannot meet those requirements, or when a dedicated system specifically needs an LTSC, LTSB or IoT release. Do not assume a Windows 10 key activates Windows 11. If you upgrade later, buy the appropriate Windows 11 licence.

Why are our Windows 10 licences cheaper?

Resold permanent software licences can cost less than other purchasing routes because the right to use an existing licence is sold again. The lower price does not change our service: Licendi provides a genuine Microsoft key, an official download link, a PDF invoice showing VAT and support by email and chat.

Compare the edition and servicing period rather than buying on price alone. Home and Pro no longer receive free security updates, while the long-term editions have specific use cases and dates. We help you select the right Windows licence before purchase.

Is it legal to buy a resold Windows 10 licence?

Legal basis

Yes. The UsedSoft v Oracle judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union, case C-128/11, dated 3 July 2012, established that permanent software licences may be resold legally in the EU when these conditions are met:

  • The first sale in the EU was made by the rightholder or with the rightholder's consent.
  • The right of use was granted indefinitely for a price that reflects the economic value of the copy, including a downloaded copy.
  • The seller makes its own copy unusable when reselling the licence.
  • A multi-user licence is resold as a whole and is not split.

Licendi gives you a PDF invoice showing VAT and a one-month activation guarantee. If the key does not activate on the first installation, write to us and we will fix it.

Windows 10 requirements: check before buying

  • Confirm that your PC supports Windows 10 and that its processor, memory and storage meet the requirements of the edition.
  • Check whether the current installation is 32-bit or 64-bit before downloading an installer.
  • Match the installed edition to the licence: Home, Pro, Enterprise, LTSC, LTSB and IoT are not interchangeable labels.
  • For Windows 11 instead, check TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and processor support.
  • Use IoT Enterprise only for a dedicated single-purpose device.

Tip: check the edition in Windows settings and save a backup of important files before reinstalling. If you are unsure whether you need standard Windows 10 or LTSC, contact Licendi before ordering.

How to buy, download and activate Windows 10

  1. Choose the edition: select Home, Pro, Enterprise, LTSC, LTSB or IoT according to the PC and its purpose, then complete your order.
  2. Receive the email: we send the genuine key, official download link and PDF invoice showing VAT instantly during office hours or within 24 hours outside them.
  3. Install and activate: use the official download, install the matching edition and enter the key. If it does not activate on the first installation, contact us within the one-month activation guarantee.

Support, security dates and future upgrades

We support your purchase by email and chat. Standard Windows 10 support ended on 14 October 2025. Enterprise LTSC 2021 runs to 12 January 2027; Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021 to 13 January 2032; LTSC 2019 and IoT LTSC 2019 to 9 January 2029. LTSB 2016 support ended on 13 October 2026.

A permanent licence can continue to work after support ends, but that does not restore security updates. If the PC later qualifies for Windows 11, plan a separate Windows 11 licence rather than assuming the Windows 10 key provides an upgrade.

Windows 10 licences for business

For several PCs or a fleet of fixed-purpose devices, tell us the number of machines, their hardware, the current Windows edition and the work each device performs. Licendi can prepare a quote and help distinguish Pro from Enterprise, LTSC and IoT. You receive a PDF invoice showing VAT, and we can help you keep the chosen edition consistent across the deployment.

Frequently asked questions about Windows 10 licences

Is Windows 10 still safe to use in 2026?

It depends on the edition: standard Home and Pro support ended on 14 October 2025, while verified LTSC and IoT releases have later dates. Choose an edition with security servicing appropriate to the device.

Can I still activate Windows 10?

Yes. Buy the edition that matches your installation, then use the supplied genuine key and official download link.

Should I buy Windows 10 Home or Pro?

Choose Pro if you need BitLocker, Remote Desktop host, Hyper-V, Group Policy or domain and Entra ID join. Choose Home for personal use when those business tools are unnecessary.

What is the difference between Windows 10 Pro and LTSC?

LTSC has no feature updates, Microsoft Store or built-in Store apps, while Pro follows the standard feature model. LTSC suits stable fixed systems; Pro suits an ordinary professional PC.

Can I use Windows 10 Enterprise IoT on an office PC?

No. IoT Enterprise is licensed for a dedicated single-purpose device, not a general office PC.

Does a digital licence differ from a product key?

Yes. A product key is the code used to activate the matching edition, while a digital licence records the activation entitlement for the device. Keep your purchase email and invoice with your licence records.

Can I reinstall Windows 10?

Yes, but reinstall the same edition and keep your key and invoice available. Our one-month guarantee covers a key that does not activate on the first installation.

Does a Windows 10 key activate Windows 11?

No. If you upgrade later, check that the PC meets the Windows 11 requirements and buy a Windows 11 licence.

When will my Windows 10 key arrive?

By email, instantly during office hours and within 24 hours outside them. The email includes the key and official download link, and we provide a PDF invoice showing VAT.

What happens if the key does not activate?

Write to us and we will fix it if the key does not activate on the first installation. Your purchase includes a one-month activation guarantee plus support by email and chat.
