Which edition to choose
- Windows 8.1 Pro: adds BitLocker, Remote Desktop host and domain join over the basic edition — from €16.52
It is a permanent licence: you pay once and there is no subscription. It suits you if you are reinstalling an older machine or running software that depends on this version of Windows.
Windows 8.1 no longer gets security updates
Support for Windows 8.1 ended on 10 January 2023, and there have been no security updates since. That is why we only recommend it for legacy machines or software that needs it.
For a new PC, or one that goes online, we recommend Windows 11. If the PC cannot run Windows 11, Windows 10 is the alternative. You can see every option under Windows licences.
