Difference between OEM, Retail and Bound licenses

OEM:

These are licenses that only have one activation and are associated with the motherboard of the computer. They are licenses that an original equipment manufacturer usually puts on a new computer. Microsoft does not sell this type of license to individual customers and you can take advantage of exclusive access because we acquire them in large volume.

Important:

  • Perpetual license, with 1x Activation.
  • If your computer breaks, you lose the license.
  • If you format the computer, you also lose the license as the application may not recognize the computer as the same one.
  • If you lose the computer, you also lose the license.
  • No updates available.

Installation difficulty: Medium/High

Retail:

These are the licenses that you buy for example directly from Microsoft if you go to a physical store. They usually come in a box and with their Microsoft code. At Licendi we opt for digital delivery to reduce costs and be able to offer licenses at a more competitive price.

Important:

  • Perpetual license.
  • Several activations allowed to transfer the license from one computer to another, as long as it is not abusive and only the license is activated on one computer simultaneously.
  • Transferable as long as the license code is remembered.
  • WE CAN ONLY GUARANTEE 1 ACTIVATION!

Installation difficulty: Medium/High

Bound:

These licenses are the ones you buy online directly from Microsoft that are also associated with a Microsoft account. These are the easiest to install, the safest and unfortunately also the most expensive.

Important:

  • Perpetual and transferable license.
  • Associated with a Microsoft account.
  • Regular security updates.
  • Compatible for Smartphone and Tablet.

Installation difficulty: Very easy
