Is FineReader for Mac the right tool?
Choose it to turn a scanned agreement into Word, a table into Excel or a paper archive into searchable PDFs. It is primarily an OCR and conversion application. It does not provide the Windows edition’s full PDF editing toolkit, document comparison or Hot Folder automation. A basic PDF reader may be enough if you only need to view files. What your one-year offer includes
| Product | Term | Devices / platform |
|---|---|---|
| ABBYY FineReader PDF for Mac | 1 year | 1 / macOS |
You receive a new key supplied through European distribution and a PDF invoice showing VAT. Licendi emails the key and vendor download instantly during office hours, or within 24 hours outside them. Quotes for several units are available by email or chat; each licence here covers one Mac.
Conversion capabilities and Mac requirements
FineReader recognises 198 languages, including documents mixing languages; 53 have dictionary support. Export options include DOCX, XLSX, searchable PDF, PDF/A and EPUB. EPUB export can help digitise a book, but this is not primarily an e-book reader. Review names, numbers and table structure after conversion.
ABBYY lists macOS 12 and later, including macOS 26 Tahoe, 4 GB RAM and 3 GB of installation space. Apple Silicon runs the application using Rosetta 2. Direct scanning requires an ICA-compatible device that works with Image Capture; existing document photos and scans can also be imported.
Install, activate and check a document
- Download the vendor installer supplied in your email. This serial-number edition uses the ABBYY distribution, not the Mac App Store build.
- Install and launch FineReader PDF. Enter the serial number when prompted; otherwise open ABBYY FineReader PDF > Activate.
- Select the document language and output format, convert a sample page, then inspect the result before processing the rest.
An invalid serial number can mean a typing error or a key for a different product, such as the Windows edition or older FineReader Pro for Mac. Check both, then contact Licendi by email or chat. The one-month activation guarantee provides help or a replacement key if activation fails.
Subscription
The offer is for one year. Check the validity dates supplied with the licence before postponing installation; ABBYY’s general FineReader PDF guidance starts subscriptions at purchase. Continued paid use requires a valid subscription after expiry. ABBYY’s renewal guidance for Mac says to enter the new licence supplied on renewal.
Questions from Mac users
Does it edit PDF text like Windows Standard?
No. Its strength is conversion into editable formats. Export to Word or another supported format when you need to rework the text.
Can I use it for invoice OCR?
You can convert scanned tables to Excel. Check figures and column alignment; this offer does not include an invoice approval or accounting workflow.
Can I scan books on an Apple Silicon Mac?
Yes, using the supported application through Rosetta 2 and compatible input hardware, or by importing scans. Use clear pages and check the recognition result.
Does the Windows licence cover Mac too?
No. ABBYY requires separate licences for the Windows and Mac products.
