We're coming up on nine years since the release of Grand Theft Auto V. The return to the state of San Andreas stayed within the boundaries of greater Los Santos, but the city has never been bigger. It is not only limited to the city itself but also to the surrounding mountains and municipalities.
This creates a very expansive gameplay experience, even more so considering the fact that Rockstar Games has hidden a multitude of surprises in all corners of the game. One of those surprises took until 2022 to be discovered, 9 years after its release.
GTA V is a marvel. It is a vast, vivid and engaging world. There is an unlimited amount of potential to be found in everything. The story relies more on absurdity, satire and madness, but it's better for it. There are still mature themes, but it's not exactly a game that takes itself seriously.
Heists and multiple playable characters are the main feature and they deliver in every way. It's hard to imagine where GTA can go; maybe that's why Rockstar is content to let the franchise live on in Grand Theft Auto Online. It's probably because of the huge amount of money GTA Online makes them, but I won't belabor the point.
Grand Theft Auto V is the undisputed pinnacle of the series. It has earned its crown and it may take a minor miracle to dethrone it.
