How to install McAfee Antivirus Installation Guide

Most devices you own probably have built-in virus protection, but to ensure complete protection against malware and potentially unwanted programmes, it's ideal to install third-party antivirus software like the ones we offer in our shop.

The product's user interface is very simple and easy to navigate, unlike other antivirus products with similar high performance, which is something you should not forget.

But which one should you choose?

General features

In addition to the general features, you can see the main differences between these three McAfee antivirus products.

Initial installation on PC or Mac

If you have a computer with Windows 10 or 8.x

• Click on the "Download Centre" button in the email you received or in the email corresponding to the product.

• You will be redirected to the manufacturer's website and asked to log in or create a new account.
• Download and run the McAfee Software Installation Wizard tool.
• Enter your registered e-mail address and your licence and click on "Register".
• Click on "Start", the "Licence Agreement" screen appears and you must follow the instructions and click on "Accept".
• The installed McAfee software can be uninstalled and reinstalled to fix possible problems. Therefore, the tool may take 15 minutes or more.

If you have Windows 7 (or earlier) or macOS, or want to install another McAfee product such as Safe Connect or Safe Family.

Step 1: Log in to the McAfee website.

1. Go to home.mcafee.com.
2. Click on "Log in".
3. Follow one of these procedures:

• If you already have a McAfee account:
a. Enter the email address of your McAfee account.
b. Enter your McAfee account password.
c. Click on "Log in".

• If you do not have a McAfee account:
a. Click on "Register now".
b. Enter your details, e.g. first name, last name and email address. Enter a password for the account.
c. You will receive the McAfee "License Agreement" and "Privacy Policy" and click "I accept".

Step 2: Start the installation

1. Choose:
• The type of machine you want to install on.
• The McAfee software you want to install.

2. Click on "Download".
3. You will receive a screen with a "licence agreement" which you must accept after reading it.
4. You will receive a serial number which you should note down for later.
5. Follow the instructions to install the McAfee software.

NOTE:

• If the installation fails on your computer running Windows 7 or earlier, you may need to run the Pre-Installation Tool. For more details, see Related Information.
• To properly install McAfee software on Macs with Apple Silicon processors, you must have Rosetta installed.

• Follow the instructions in the registration process and enter the product key you purchased from us when prompted.

If you are a Licendi customer, you will find both the invoice and the licence transfer in your email.

Did you encounter any issues?

If the licence does not work, we will replace it free of charge! If you have followed all the instructions and installed the file, but the password does not activate the software, it is possible that the password has expired, as our passwords have to be activated within a certain time frame.

In this case, we ask you to fill out the form in our Help Centre and send us a picture of the error message (preferably a screenshot). You will then receive a new licence for immediate activation.

The licence gives you the right to download and use the updates.
