Acrobat Pro DC, the gold standard among high-end PDF applications, recently received its most important update in years.

Adobe acrobat Pro DC

Advantages:

• Text indexing for quick search.
• Cloud-based commenting and approval.
• Complete editing functions in mobile applications.
• Convert photos taken with the mobile phone into a PDF file in the desktop application.
Acrobat Pro DC offers many of the collaboration conveniences for PDF editing that Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Apple's iWork suite brought to word processing and spreadsheets years ago.

With an Acrobat-only subscription or a full subscription to the Creative Cloud suite, entire teams can now annotate a shared PDF from an Acrobat desktop app, mobile app or by signing in to Adobe Document Cloud from any web browser.

Everything you need to know about Adobe Acrobat Pro

With Acrobat, you can get most of the features of the Pro version in a cheaper version of Acrobat Standard, but the Pro version has features you shouldn't miss, such as the ability to find differences between two copies of the same PDF file.
With this feature, you can use a tablet version of the app to edit PDFs, scan an image from your phone and convert it to a polished PDF, or conform PDFs to international data retention standards.

The traditional desktop app is virtually unchanged from previous versions, with a cleaner design and easier navigation. It includes new features that let you browse multiple PDFs and improves access to files from cloud services like Google Drive. You'll know you're using the latest version when you see a new, bright red and white icon on your PDF files.

Adobe developed the PDF format and then published the PDF specification as a public standard that anyone can work with. Acrobat has always set the standard for other PDF tools and is still the best general-purpose PDF editor, but that does not mean it is the best for all purposes.

New functions

The new Acrobat desktop application streamlines Adobe's methods for signing and distributing PDF files. A new Adobe Sign tool in the Acrobat toolbar makes it easier to upload documents and send invitations to sign. Recipients sign the document by opening it through Adobe's cloud services and do not need an Adobe account to sign.
The new document sharing features make Acrobat a clear favourite for many businesses, but it is far from the only option. We will look at other alternatives to Acrobat in the near future.
The cloud service embeds the signed PDF file with a certificate so that any change to the document once signed triggers a warning that the document has been changed.

The Adobe Acrobat Pro DC experience

Over the years, Acrobat has added so many features that it is easy to forget that some of them exist.
One feature of Acrobat that does not exist anywhere else is the ability to create a font from the font of a scanned document and use that font when adding or revising text in the PDF.

This way you can scan a printed document with a font that has not been used for a hundred years and make the text searchable and selectable with Acrobat's OCR, then make changes and corrections to the text of the document.
Acrobat even offers animated presentation-style transitions from one PDF page to the next.

More points

Acrobat continues to use its familiar interface with a left sidebar that can display page thumbnails, bookmarks and attachments.
If you right-click on the page thumbnails, you can manage functions such as page numbering so that the page numbering of the PDF pages matches that of a scanned document.

Or if you have scanned pages 25 to 45 of a document, you can also set the page numbers in the Acrobat menu to pages 25 to 45 instead of starting with 1. This feature is easier to use in Acrobat than in any other PDF software I have tried.

If you share PDF files or upload them to Adobe Document Cloud to access them on multiple devices, you can access them through the Document Cloud web interface at documentcloud.adobe.com.

At the top of the main screen is a set of tools for loading, creating, combining and managing PDFs. You can also export PDFs to Office and other formats, rearrange PDF pages by dragging thumbnails to different positions, and much more.

All these tools are very similar to those in the Acrobat desktop and mobile apps, but Acrobat desktop has a much wider range of tools and options, including cutting, optimising and indexing tools. All these tools are easily accessible from the improved home screen of the new version of Acrobat.

PDF editing

Acrobat's PDF editing capabilities have always been powerful, with unique features based on Adobe's typographic expertise. For example, when editing text in a PDF, you can adjust word and letter spacing so you can add or remove words without affecting the appearance of the page.
Acrobat offers an impressive range of powerful security and privacy options, but we have discovered a bug in the latest desktop versions of Acrobat that is a potential security vulnerability.
When you create a PDF file or open an existing PDF file, Acrobat creates a thumbnail of the first page, about 150 x 120 pixels in size, and displays it in the Recent list on the Acrobat home screen. The preview is large enough to display recognisable information such as a heading, logo or image.
